Then we lost the only dark / shadow skill that Hunters had. They are raising both Night Elf and Blood Elf as Dark Rangers, Hunters lost a ranged spec for a melee with some ranged style. That for me is the last thing I needed to take a guess at their plans. The 3rd thing that I though of is the removal of Black Arrow. If another bow wielding class in inbound, then the changes the Survival make more sense. The 2nd clue, and the one that helped me feel it was the right direction is the changes tot he Hunter class. Like a Survival Hunter, just a guess of course. Likely will only have 2 specs like DH has, but still I would guess a Mail wearing class with Ranged / melee skills. With Sylvanas raising Blood Elves and Night Elves as Dark Rangers, it gives both factions access to the class. The first one, Night Elf Dark Rangers and Dark Wardens.
Why class an not allied race? Well, Blizzard left a couple little clues around. I am guessing, and it is all for fun, but next expansion we will see a Dark Ranger type of class. Maybe not so much to grind for them but that is not the focus here lol. I did not expect allied races, but the moose tauren and upright trolls made me wonder why. Back in Legion, when I noticed the upright trolls I had a guess that we would get customization soon.
